Back-to-school season is here! Whether you’re a first-year student or a seasoned veteran, there are always new things to learn and experience. Here are nine tips to help you make the most of your time at BYU:
Get Involved
One of the best ways to make the most of your college experience is to get involved on campus. There are countless clubs, organizations, and activities to choose from, so you’re sure to find something that interests you. Getting involved is a great way to meet new people, make friends, and learn new things.
Talk to Your Professors
Don’t be afraid to reach out to your professors, even if you don’t have them for a class. They’re there to help you succeed, and they’re often more approachable than you think. Talking to your professors can help you get to know them better, get advice on your studies, and even get involved in research opportunities.
Stay Organized
College can be a lot of work, so it’s important to stay organized. Create a study schedule and stick to it, and make sure to keep track of your assignments and deadlines. There are also a number of apps and software programs that can help you stay organized, such as Google Calendar and Evernote.
Prioritize Your Health
It’s important to take care of your physical and mental health during college. Make sure to get enough sleep, eat healthy foods, and exercise regularly. It’s also important to find ways to manage stress, such as yoga, meditation, or spending time in nature.
Have Fun!
College is a time to explore new things and have fun. Don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and try new activities. There are endless opportunities for fun and adventure at BYU, so take advantage of them!
Attend Church Regularly
BYU is a religious university, so attending church is an important part of the experience. It’s a great way to connect with your faith community and get involved in service opportunities.
Get Involved With The Cougar Chronicle
The Cougar Chronicle is BYU’s student newspaper, and it’s a great way to get involved on campus and learn about the news and events that are happening. Fill out this form if you are interested in joining The Cougar Chronicle.
Don’t Be Afraid To Fail
Everyone fails at something at some point. It’s important to learn from your mistakes and move on. Don’t let fear of failure hold you back from trying new things.
Set Realistic Goals For Yourself
Don’t try to do too much at once, or you’ll just end up feeling overwhelmed. Set goals that are challenging but achievable, and give yourself time to reach them.
Following these tips can help you make the most of your time at BYU. So get out there, get involved, and have fun!

Tip #11 should be to visit the BYU Creamery and ask for the ‘special’ flavors not listed on the menu but available to Cougar Insiders: Rasband Ripple, Mocha Moroni Swirl, Mahonri Macadamia, Big Rock Candy Monson, Porter Rockwell Road, Hinckley Hash, and Chocolate Kimball Crunch. All are well worth the $1 tip to the guy working the counter.
